Comentando o “Se eu fosse você''

The question of the week is the case of the man who always felt attracted to other men , but never had the courage to fulfill his desires .
It is not always easy being gay . A survey on violence in the state of New York , USA , found that , among all minority groups , homosexuals were subject to greater hostility. But it was not always so.
In classical Greece , homosexuality was an institution and no one bothered to try it . In some Greek cities , was a necessary practice of the rites of passage from youth civic within a framework governed by laws , but by relating closely with masculinity .
Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries began the massive repression of homosexuality , considered heresy , which evolved into the terror of the Inquisition . In the 19th Century , homosexual activity is no longer sin and was deemed disease. But the taboo only decreased with the advent of birth control in the 1960s . The dissociation between sex and reproduction approached the homo and heterosexual practices , both aiming at pleasure.
Although , today , gays are no longer considered impaired , discrimination continues and they are harassed and assaulted . And who are homophobic ? Studies indicate conservative , rigid , favorable to the maintenance of traditional sex roles people. When considering , for example, that is not a gay man , is a clear attempt to preserve male and female , typical of societies that fear of domination gender stereotypes .
Homophobia is , for many men , a mechanism of psychological defense strategy to avoid recognizing an unacceptable part of themselves . Assaulting homosexuals is a way of externalizing the conflict and make it bearable.

But the worst enemy of homosexual is their own homophobia . To internalize the values of society towards homosexuality , many gay reproach if desired by another man . Completely deny sex or lead a double life, marrying and having children. There is great effort made to believe that they are heterosexual , even at the cost of much suffering .
